Hey little fella! (Flash, looky here)

Had just finished meeting up with Kunama and was driving down the road parallel to RWY 35 CBR. Spotted the distinctive shape of a C-17 on long final. Headed for the HIAL area of Pialligo, and waited with the phone ready and sunroof open.

Well, the photos didn't turn out as planned thanks to the rain and wind, but you get the idea - NOT zoomed, and you see my car radio antenna in the shot .

Sure beats a Herc or a Caribou Col!

I can remember eating my knees in a Herc all the way from Darwin to Richmond, 'cos they had a light aircraft (without its wings!) parked in the middle...

It sure does .... I spent 25hrs in the back of a C130 ( H Model ) ... hopped scotched from Amberley to Port Morsbey to US Air Base on Guam and the final destination was Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. ( RimPac exercise between the Yanks / Australian / and New Zealand ... War Games in the Pacific ) ....that was 42 years ago.

The ' drone ' of the 4 x Allison T56 Turbines would put you to sleep in no time after an hour or so ...

I slept on top of the many ' pallets ' that were strapped in the back..
Played cards , and stretched our legs up on the flight deck behind the Pilot and Navigator .... the Flight Engineer was off to the right .

They were good days ....

Col...
