The Doctor is back

Just found out the BBC has made a new Dr Who series , apparently i think the ABC starts telecasting it in 2 weeks , the first story is a rehash of the killer manquiens { think that was back in the Jon Pertwee days }

Was it Jon Pertwee who played a scarecrow in an old BBC program many years ago.?

Yes that was Wurzel Gummidge.

Has any one seen the I think ANZ call centre add with the robot from Lost in Space and the Daleks. I love the Daleks but I've got to admit that the robot from Lost in Space is my favourite of all time.

Yep ive seen the add LOL , i was waiting for my favourite villians the Cyber-men .....quick grab the gold dust ......talking about Jon Pertwee im not sure if it was him or tom baker but in the early 80s there was a special Dr who show that had a storyline that featured all the blokes who played the Dr and either Pertwee or baker had a dispute with the BBC and they used a wax manquieen for a publicity shot

Beren,

The special you're thinking of may be "The Five Doctors", made in the same way that "The Three Doctors" was 10 years prior. Tom Baker was in dispute with the BBC, and so they used footage from a Tom Baker episode - Shada - that never saw the light of day due to it being interrupted by a BBC strike whilst filming.

Looking forward to next month when the ABC shows the new Dr Who. It's been topping the ratings in the UK.

Brendan,

The new 13 episodes of Dr Who are longer than the 1963-1989 series (roughly 45 min). Given the ratings in the UK, I suspect that the ABC will broadcast it in a prime-time evening slot.

The old series should continue through to mid-2006.
