Maybe a touch over done but its colourful at least

Some folk like magenta stars in NB images but this leftover from the SII integration can draw too much focus away from the object.

Tou can make a dramatic change simply by opening the 'selective colour' dialogue in PS, selecting 'magenta' from the drop down menu and dragging the 'magenta' slider to -100%. You can achieve the same result in PI under histogram transformation.

Obviously, an even better result can be achieved if you isolate (mask) the stars.

Nice one Mark.
Some LRGB will get rid of the purple stars. Melbourne is in nuclear winter at the moment, so good to see Sydney has some cloudless nights at least.

Hi Mark

Thats a really nice image. I like the colours, very strong and the pillars are pretty cool

The blacks seem clipped around the darker areas towards the top and tweaking star masks might help with some of the smaller stars if you are desperate to lose all of the magenta

On the RGB, give it a go. I wouldn't bother with the L but short RGB subs should be fine if you are just looking for star colour, subject to whatever your gradient removing tool of choice is. The last 2 cluster images I did where taken from a very short bus ride away from the CBD. 3 minutes subs tops, no LP filters, but not sure what that translates to with your ASI1600.

Thanks David I will play around with some rgb for the stars I was just happy to get good colour to start with I have 3 more objects I am desperately trying to get data for at the moment as well ...before moon and clouds put a stop to it again

That's looking very good, Mark.

Was this with the 10" RC? What location and exposure details?

Best,
Mike

Yes the RC10 ASI1600 it was taken in my backyard suburban Sydney again
It was just 1hr Ha as I had that from previous image and added 1.5hr S2 O3 each. Probably a couple more hrs Ha may be helpful but i just wanted to see what it would look like
