I thought I was a good boy....

Yep I thought i was being good, sold the 12" LX200 and only bought a LX200R 10" OTA and rings and stuff, they arrived today. Then it happened

Our 4 year old bullet proof washing machine blew the electric motor and gearbox in one foul swoop! We had a small electrical fire and water spill. Smoke and soot in the laundary. not fair. I am gobsmaked

So I have just ordered and will have delivered by 5pm a brand new $1000 fisher and Pykel washer. Like where does one produce a $1000 and the drop of a hat . Instant quote over the phone gave a recon motor and gearbox to be over $680 for our older machine.

A few years ago, I remember the washing machine packed it in....about 15 years old anyway.

A few months later the fridge went on the blink, during summer, and we got up in the morning to water all over the floor, and several hundred dollars of stuff to throw out. So had to get a new fridge.

Thems the breaks!

Just remember you can always put the children on EBAY.

Some of them go for a few thousand each if they come with extras and can mow lawns....lol

It may be worth checking your insurance policy, most cover repairs to burned out motors on domestic appliances.

Hi hOughy

A Fisher and Pykel, you say. My wife and I got a new one not long after our boy was born. Were up to our second warranty call in 12 months, first was a faulty cold water solenoid and now the lid is developing cracks. Usually takes a week for a repairman to fix the problem.

New not good

Anthony

Hi Houghy, I know how you feel, this year I had to replace two washing machines and a bar fridge.
The washing machine down the coast was a 30 year solid steel job that weighed a ton. first I had to get it onto the trailor then pull out the stainless bowl because wifey saw one on Better Homes and Gardens with bulbs in it. Then I got charged $4 at the tip to get rid of it.

Just one of those years
