Gum 14

[gregbradley]

Gum 14 is a large nebula next to the Vela Supernova Remnant. Not often imaged and when it is the nebula often is just a red blob.

So I wanted to make sure the lovely star field added interest.

I am quite happy with this one. 11 hours and 10 minutes.

Apart from something really funky going on towards the bottom left corner, really lovely shot! Although there isn't much going on in the vast amounts of Ha, it makes a pleasant star field.

Thanks Colin. The brighter neb near the bottom left? Not sure which version you saw, I did revise it and posted it to the same link pulling back more detail in that bright neb.

Thanks Dave. I saw a couple of nice images of this neb that showed the lovely colourful starfield and that prompted me to image it.
