Local Astrofest

This girl, Brittany Trubody, joined a local council a few years ago and talked them into an Astrofest. It is now Australias biggest.
She has even had a 3/4 scale copy of Discovery made (cos the full size one wouldn't go into the sports centre!).
The festival has talks by astro professionals, classes, s/h gear sales etc.

Looks great. Its a pity I can't make it this weekend. Hope they repeat it.

A forum member (Peter Sayers) is also giving talks on Astrophotography. He has done Aurora photography in past years also I believe.
Graham, it is an annual event that was trialled 3 years ago. The way it has grown and attracted excellent speakers and attendances, it will continue I reckon.

Excellent. I've been looking for an excuse to visit Tas (not really just making excuses to stay home) but this is a great thing for Am Astro and Tas. More states should gather forces to make this more of a round robin affair.
