Fudging the cludge

Meh, what the heck - why not try to join the panels eh?

Only a half-hearted (more like an eighth) attempt to merge them properly (all done by eye - not software), but the idea is there...

Trifid and Lagoon would both easily fit in just one frame, but why not do a two panel mosaic and still miss it!

Don't give up Lewis, you can do it

Yeah, but then I'd miss the cluster and the toes...

If I was of poor humour, I would be grossly offended, give up, sell or mothball the lot.

You rise me up Suavi

That was my evil plan actually...to lay my hands on your beautifully restored AP scope!

You can lay your hands on the scope, but don't expect to go home with them - your hands that is

I am actually dieing to image with it - the Precise Parts A-P to Tak adaptor arrives tomorrow so I can fit the flattener/reducer. 120mm vs 80mm for the same exposure time will be hugely different! Just guiding may be trickier.

Maybe Lewis, it might be time to give this one up

However although it was off target, to many wines i expect the data looks fine, keep trying,

Things going wrong and correcting them is standard procedure for Astrophotography. Hell I have permanent observatories and you'd think you'd just flip a switch and you'd be off but no it often does throw up a little spanner every now and then.

Photoshop CC does mosaic stitching now. Open them both up with the 2nd image as a layer on the first. Then activate both layers then its file/automate/photomerge. It usually does a half decent job, not as good as PT Gui but not bad sometimes.

Greg.

Beautiful, although the edges of the frame look a bit ragged, it is a top shot.
Well done, and this is not with tongue in cheek so to speak.

oh this is a classic thread, esp. Suavi's first reply! Cracked me up.

At first I thought you'd imaged an ancient alien 'Wall' Lewis, constructed to keep us aliens out.

I suspect the Trifid is shy, moving out of position every now and then
