Observing co-ordinates of Santa

For those of you that aren't going to bed yet, you can see Santa through most Telescopes and even some Binoculars.

His co-ords for most of Australia will be low in the East at approximately 8 degrees above the horizon, heading westerly in an erratic zig-zag pattern. He will vary from Mag 6 down to Mag 9, so the hunt won't be easy. Start looking at about 0130 hours local time.

Sorry to say that tracking with GoTo's will not work as no-one has bothered to write his path into the Sky Programs. Those of you with a keen eye may be able to track him Manually. Alt/Az is the best for this. In previous years it has been discovered that EQ's have a hard time.

I look forward to seeing the results from anyone capturing pics of this annual event.

Good luck and happy hunting!

That's a pity Ric.

I hear his sleigh shows up well in pics. A bit like a slow Meteorite

I might have to resort to a radio telescope and try to pick up the Ho Ho's.

Cheers
