Thumbs up Saturn preview!

Attached is the red channel from one of the avi's this morning, in a period of good seeing that lasted about 5 minutes.

Unfortunately I don't think the green and blue will be as good, as the red channel is usually the best and the seeing started to deteriorate, but the final image might still come out ok.

This avi got corrupted with I stopped the capture program, so I had to repair it before I could process it. I knew the data was good, so there's no way I was letting it get away

While capturing this avi, it was the best view of Saturn I've ever seen on my laptop. Very 3D and crisp.

Taken with my 10" dob, 5x powermate + DMK21AF04 + Astronomik Red filter.
430 frames stacked on each of 3 alignment points in Registax 4.

I'll process the other channels today or tomorrow, if I get time.

Looks good Mike.

Out of interest, where did you set your 3 alignment points?

You able to do a screen capture of Regi4 at the alignment point stage?

Cheers

I'll do a screenshot when regi4 is idle.. it's busy processing atm

I use a 128px box, on the left (rings), middle (globe) and right (rings) for an image of this scale.

When using the 3x barlow, the image is smaller so I just use 2 points (same size box) on one half of saturn (encompassing the rings) and the other half.

Thanks guys, i've done most of the processing, hope to finish it tomorrow.

Phil, I used (from the readme file)
Quote:
ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair v1.82
Copyright (c) 2002, Repair Video Inc --- http://www.repairvideo.com/
Although it didn't really complete properly, not sure if it's because it was the trial version. I then opened the avi in virtualdub, and it recovered it and I was able to save the avi as a set of BMP's.
