Synscan RJ11 port voltages (Synscan to PC)

Few days ago I got a 2nd hand NEQ6 and want to upgrade the firmware on the synscan v3 as it is running some very ancient version.

I have found pinouts for the RJ11 connector but could nowhere find what voltages are used. I made a cable to 5V USB-serial FTDI converter (TTL levels) but that did not work.

Is it using standard RS232 voltages (-13V to 13V or similar)? Don't want to fry anything.

The RJ45 handbox to DB9 mount comms uses TTL ( 5V for an EQ6 )
The PC to RJ11 handbox port uses rs232

I'm still using the V3.27 no issues, no drama.
Just use the supplied USB to Synscan cable, using a good USB to serial adaptor.
I use the Keyspan adaptor.

Thank you Andrew and Ken. I cobbled up an RJ11-to-RS232 (DB-9) cable and then with an USB-to-RS232 (DB-9) adapter updated the firmware to 3.39.

Ken, I did not get USB-to-Synscan cable with the mount, only the Synscan-to-mount cable. That's why I built one.



Now just need to add another power connector to the mount, the original is cracked as someone stepped on the power cable
