calling aircraft buffs

We must have a new jet fighter here in Newcastle because tonight there has been a jet or several jets flying around and they are so noisy does any one know if there are any new aircraft at Williamtown airbase

I don't know Alan, but the F-35's have been down in Williamtown earlier
this month and are said to be noisier than the F-18's during takeoff
and landings.

thanks Gary that must be them I live across the other side of the wetlands that runs up to airbase at Williamtown and these planes are like nothing I have heard before they must be doing a bit of night work

No F-35s around in Australia as yet, was only 2 down here for the Avalon Airshow and they came in through Amberley. Williamtown is currently hosting Exercise Diamond Shield however where RAAF F/A-18s have been flying exercises with some USAF F-16s which would presumably be what you've been hearing?
