Horsehead Nebula from NZ

Hi,

Here’s the Horsehead Nebula taken over the last few weeks (thanks drought) with a 18cm f2.8 Takahashi Epsilon Newtonian and SBIG STL11000M CCD. 18 x 10 minute Clear, 15 x 10 minute Ha, 6 x Green and Blue, 1x1 bin. –20C.

I calibrated, applied Cosmetic Correction, Star Alignment, and Image Integration In PixInsight. I then did the processing in Photoshop. I’m slowly working through Warren Keller’s Inside excellent PixInsight book – I have yet to work through the processing chapters! -

Nicely done John. I think the colour is a bit too blue-green but the detail is outstanding. You might consider applying HLVG. I tried it and to my mind the colour was improved quite a bit.

Cheers

Steve

Nice depth to it, John. As others mentioned, colour balance need a tweak. Would also be nice to tame the blown out stars but with a fast astrograph you'd need some very short subs.

Cheers,
Rick.
