Thor's Helmet NGC2359

NGC2359 Thor's Helmet Nebula.
Capture details: GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, Box Brownie camera..... er I mean modified Canon 1100D, Baader and Astronomik CLS filters, 584 x 30 seconds unguided, HEQ5-Pro. Taken over three nights through gaps in the clouds, of which there were many. Clouds I mean. Lost more than 50% of subs to them. And satellites. Never seen so many LGM crossing the field.

Thanks Louie and Dunk! The 1100D is doing a good job with summer nebula. Just need more cloud free sky time to give it a good test.

Sorry Andy, not yet. I haven't paid my sub to Astrobin this year so have nowhere to upload them. Have to stick to the 200k limit here.

Very nice indeed Kevin! I would've thought that your satellites would have been filtered out in image combination, especially with so many other subs?

Good to see you're doing some longer exposure time - I might get around to that soon - it sure makes a difference - you've got some great fine detail there.

Very Cool, I'm making the leap into imaging and just got a 1100D from gumtree.
I also upgraded to a Celestron CGEM mount with 1100HD scope.
Do you think I should have a go at using Backyard EOS.
I'm going to try imaging Orion when the clouds go away.
Do you have any points for my first attempt

Thanks Tony! Longer time is certainly the key for faint stuff. I just wish I could get more clear time.

Thanks Andrew. Everyone swears by backyard EOS, but I haven't used it yet. Don't really need it for short subs.

If you mean the Orion Nebula, it's pretty easy. Remember to take some short subs for the core to blend in.
