It's not worth your life, houghy
Don't forget IISAC is less than 2 months away! Don't go into negative brownie points!

Gee Dave, it all depends on whether you want to stay married or not.
How many years have you clocked up together so far?
Do the right thing ( taking her out to dinner ) and have a great evening.
Congratulations to both of you!

As a husband who is afraid of the wrath of my wife I voted to avoid conflict and do the anniversary thing with your wife...
Good Luck with your "rock and hard place" choice!

A no-brainer, Houghy, if ever I saw one.

Umm yes that factor is of vital consideration . however the thought did cross my mind to actually try to achieve the impossible and do both . I am always in it , its only the depth that varies

Geez h0ughy you run from one crisis to the next. I voted for taking the wife to dinner and squeezing the meeting in.

What a wonderful chance to introduce your wife to all of your astro friends.....
Tell her you are taking her along to the Meeting as a gesture of how proud you are to have her in your life...............

Boy Dave! You like living life dangerously mate.
You know you only have one option unless you really want to spend the next twelve months in the dog house.

Treading wisely is not in my nature normally

Paul where dod you meet you wife!!!! bottle her and never let her go .
Sya, my wife is a axe wielding maniac who has no understanding or tolerance for Astronomy! She can turn from a girl with puppy dog eyes to a screaming enraged banshee if I say or do the wrong thing (astro related items) . However in saying that, I have helped her get a new full time job , helped her with exam paper marking and have just bought her a very nice rose gold diamond ring. Surely I can get some return on the investment . My back is stuffed anyway

Hi Houghy, I would say that dinner is the wise option, otherwise we might all be sending "get well soon" cards to the nearest hospital
cheers mate

What you need to do is find a restaurant within sprinting distance of the meeting. A restaurant with a window in the toilet (very important!!). Then you go out to dinner, fake an illness like 'the runs'. She will probably say "Maybe we should go home", At which point you will say "No honey, I don't want to ruin our special night, I've been planning this night for 6 months. I'll be fine let's try and enjoy ourselves". Then you keep shuttling back and forth between the restaurant and the meeting, via the window in the toilet. She gets her dinner, you get to the meeting (most of it anyway). Everyone's happy, problem solvered!!
