Fun day at the GMT

Well I had a fun day yesterday. Courtesy of the ASV I and my partner had a behind the scenes look at the Great Melbourne Telescope restoration project. Jim Pollock from the ASV showed us around and as usual was a thoroughly courteous and patient hst with lots of interesting facts at hand. The project is simply awesome, trying to recreate Victorian era engineering and put the parts that have survived back together.
Add to that we managed to have a look around the Museums storage facility (being vary careful not to touch) it was a lot of fun.
Last evening I also attended my first ASV monthly meeting, living in the country they can be hard to get to!!
