this might be for a "good cause" and all, but I am not certain that the Earth environs need more orbital debris

So... will that shot make its way into the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest ever golf shot? And how will they measure its distance?

I think NASA said it would re-enter in a few days..... You'd be dark though if your billion dollar satellite were taken out by a golf ball scooting around though wouldn't you!

one would hope that NASA has determined the orbit and that this comes nowhere near any communication satellites and any spybirds that at least they know about, but I am very surprised (without doing the numbers) that something as small as a golfball would encounter sufficient friction for its orbit to decay in only a few days.

It wasn't a real golf ball (10% normal mass or something I think).... you would hope they'd have aimed it so as to miss expensive stuff though.....
