Seagull's Head

The head of the Seagull Nebula (looks nothing like a gull's head to me ).

19 x 20 mins with QHY8 and EQ6/RC8. (7 of those subs on a night of what seemed to be really good seeing - some FWHMs under 2" and averaging under 2.5" across those frames, which I know is not great but for my gear and location (and low skill level!) it's unusual. But the other 12 on a very different night with wind and dodgy guiding and FWHMs way higher! )

Full res on Astrobin.

Paul

Looks quite nice Paul and you are right, wish such a tight crop it does take a bit of imagination to see the seagulls head

Very nice, Paul. Lots of detail there.

We reckon it's a cockatoo's head for sure. The main central dust lane is the cheeky grin, just after it's munched on your garden furniture, and the two slightly more yellow (in the sense of less magenta) shock fronts toward 2 o'clock (which you've imaged really well) are part of its comb.

Nice shot! (I'm sure it's a cockatoo's head)

Looks good, pleasing colours and depth.
Fwiw Startools has a wonderful NR feature that may be of interest.
Good one

Hi Paul,
like all your work -
it's excellent for a colour camera
& is better than so many people including me who use a mono camera.

cheers
Allan

Thanks guys.

Mike n Trish - yeah, I can kind of see the cockatoo now. Though looks a bit more like a velociraptor to me
