M42 Redux

Hi again folks,

Apologies for the sequel, but I guess I'm not quite done with this dataset yet.

Taking onboard all of your comments about the previous version, I thought it would be worth revisiting all 25 hrs of the data and see what else could be wrung out, and remapping the colours.

Recipe is now...

Ha mapped to Green - then PS>Selective colour>orange/red
O3 mapped to Blue
S2 mapped to Red - the PS>Selective colour> yellow/red
Same RGB stars

High res HERE

C&C welcome

Andy

An enjoyable journey exploring the tendrils of nebulosity surrounding M42.

Hi Rodney, yes it's easier to see the details now - I particularly like seeing the detail in NGC 1999 now, looks like a big pussycat

This is quite a nice palette indeed. Less "sponge bob" than the previous rendition.

Hi, Andy,

We much prefer the move away from electric blue and purple in this version. Very enjoyable.

Setting palette aside, both versions show magnificent sharp grit-free detail in the far outer stretches.
