Any Android phone experts out there?

Hi

I am trying to get an endoscope camera working with a new Motorola smart phone.

But, the camera apps I have have tried do not even 'see' the camera.

Any suggestions on where to find a solution would be appreciated.

I have a query on Whirlpool Forums, but, no response as yet.

Thanks for reading

Philip

More details for those interested in reading them.

I have a Moto G3 (XT1550) with Android 6.0 and an endoscope USB camera (link below).

Does anybody know if this phone can work with this type of camera?

If yes, how???

I have tried the app that came with the phone, and at least 6 others from the Play Store. None even recognise that the camera is connected.

I have an OTG microSD card adapter that works with ES File Explorer, but, other file explorer apps seemed to not really work.

The camera does work when plugged into the computer via an adapter.
Any help will be appreciated, even if it is just a suggestion about who I should be asking.

Hi,
a wild guess is Android does have a couple of USB modes it could be in.
Have a look at - http://support.bell.ca/Mobility/Smar..._options_on_my

click though the slides, maybe there is a setting change you need?

Cheers.

Hi Tim

Thanks for the link. I will check it tonight as that may be the problem.

Unfortunately, I have a sneaking suspicious that that applies to the previous Android version.

Yeah, you likely are correct on the version. There are two modes my Mi phone has when connecting. Maybe even have a look at putting the phone into Developer mode as there are some USB toggles in there I think.

I have tried developer mode, but, that didn't seem to help. Probably due to my ignorance of what setting to try.

It could be that the phone is not putting out enough power though the usb port to power up the camera, unlike your computer...?
If you can try running it through a powered usb hub connected to the phone that might work - but I've never tried it.

Tim

I have tried the suggestion in the link, no good.
I also went back into the developer mode. I did find options similar to the link, but, they didn't help either.

Hugh
A good idea, I have read something somewhere that power can be an issue. If I had the pieces, I would try it to see if that solves the problem, but, as set up that way would be too awkward to use, I won't even bother to look for the bits.

Perhaps it wouldn't have to be complicated - you could get something like this.
And then grab one of those little Li-ion usb packs like this
