Reworked Milky Way; almost ready to print

Over the last few days I have decided that it was time to have another go (well many go's) at reprocessing my Milky Way data; needed a break from it a while back. After numerous new attempts at getting the pre-processing down pat I think I have finally worked out a good method.

I am down to having three frames on the lower right that need to be selectively fixed, going to borrow a faster computer and PS CC to do that. Have near a dozen satellite trails to be removed scattered throughout the image, also for PS CC and its content aware tool.

Besides that, anything else that should be fixed before sending it off for a pre-print?

the colour balance looks a little off, a bit yellow ... but other than that what a great image, and a fantastic project

A warm, beautiful, glowing, attractive image with just the right amount of contrast.

An easy fix I know I have removed a tad too much magenta from the Lagoon (a little redder than it should be) but it having the magenta causes more problems than it solves :/

My next project will be easier than there will be significantly better signal!

I think every time I've attacked it over the last couple of days I've just kept going harder on the contrast

I like it Col, I think the bold fiery yellow/orange works, adds some visual drama while still looking real and natural...and it is the central regions of out bubbling galaxy after all, with plenty of dust and molecular clouds

Following on from Aidan, just gone and made it a little bit warmer. Makes it a little less yellow and more fiery Not sure if I've gone and messed it up, just hit the jpeg with a selective red saturation as a test.

Is is a fantastic image Colin and I personally prefer the original (less warm) version

It looks like a galactic bushfire! Impactful.

That last bit of banding may respond to doge and burn brushes and also to the sponge tool set to desaturate or even the healing tool set to colour.

I think we need to talk in terms of PI tools as that's all I've worked with. Maybe a layer of MultiscaleWaveletDesaturation?

I think I've seen most of the tool named an drew I know how Dodge and Burn was used in original film processing.

A greast shot Col...Should be a nice print....might end up a bit dark in print, not sure myself?

maybe talk to someone with lots of asto print experience about It...printing is very different to web viewing.
