A Very Starnge Bookmark

Hi Guys, why would it be that I can open every single book mark, any page on the web that i like to look at except just one.

I have been using this particular bookmark forever and have opened it hundreds of times.

It lets me go to the main page and that is it, I can't go any further and it tells me that it cant connect to that particular site.

The strange thing though is that i can open it perfectly well on the Desk Top, but not on the Lap Top.

Every other page, bookmark, or anything else is perfectly fine, I have even deleted the bookmarks and started again, but it still says no connection, this is very odd.

Thanks in advance.

Leon

Try deleting your internet cache and temporary files.
What browser are you using?

Leon, even though I have worked in IT all my life I have never used Seamonkey. Does the site work in another browser on the same machine? If it does, and assuming it is not too much trouble then I would reinstall Seamonkey. Also you can check your antivirus and make sure that the site has not been marked as spam or blacklisted. It is just a matter of narrowing it down.

Let me know how you go.

Sounds good Russell,It is still doing the same thing, so I will try your suggestion, Sea Monkey has been good to me and has worked well in any situation except that one Book mark.

Thanks Leon

Hi Leon,
You haven't said which bookmark/site you're having trouble with....or have I missed something?

Did Sea Monkey recently update?
Which firewall are you running?

OK, I am registered with the Grey Nomads Classifieds which is a site that lets other members know who would be available to house sit and /or who wants house sitters to look after there homes.

Now it is this particular site and this one only that wont let me in anymore, every other bookmark, page that I want to view is fine.
it is only this one that is telling me that it can't fine a connection.

So really I am a little stumped as I have been opening this bookmark for ever.

Why don't you simply go to the website, navigate to the page you are after and save a new bookmark?

Damien that is the problem, I do go to the website and navigate to the page, the page comes up but i cant go any further.
Every other page is fine, it is just the Grey Nomade site and it has been doing for weeks now.

it's good to open the URL manually instead of clicking a possibly misspelt bookmark.

try in a different browser.
just in case it's only an expired cookie causing this.
if a different browser works: delete the cache and cookies and all temporary stuff of Seamonkey.

and if a different browser has the same problem, it's your security settings/firewall on your laptop blocking the site.

other peeps here have already suggested these 2 steps.

to get help on a problem with an individual website, it's always a very good idea to post the URL.
so that your support people can see and conclude better.

Annette I do try and follow the advice given however I am not as clever as some when it comes to this sort of stuff, so yea, I stumble through it and most times it comes good, and then other times it takes a bit longer.
You say use a different browser, so what do i do here, just go for say Google Chrome and install it, but wouldn't that remove the one i have already, i am not really prepared to lose Sea Monkey as it has served me well for many years and i am happy with it.

I do thank you and others for your help, but it doesn't always come easy to me.

I will keep trying and see what happens.

Thanks again.

I have followed all suggestions offered and it seems nothing will fix this odd problem where only one web page will not open out of the huge amount out there.

Thanks for your help, but i am at a lose of how to fix this.

Leon,
You asked...
Quote:

Nope. Not in any way, shape or form.
You can have as many browsers as you like.

You already have Internet Explorer (IE), or is it the "Edge" (in WIN 10), browser that you can try.

If you choose to install Google Chrome browser (not really necessary)... just do not set it as the "default", ie: watch/read those installation screens.
Leave SeaMonkey as that.

You said that you are registered on the site...Are you actually logging in to the site?
Try removing your password, re-starting SeaMonkey & opening the site again.

Have "they" updated the site lately?

Maybe ask in their Forum?

OK Guys, tried another browser, no good, tried all your links Rajah, none will open.
It is obvious that something is not quite right on the Lappy, but all is well on my Desk Top.
And like i have mentioned every single page or bookmark other than the one in question is fine

Thanks for your suggestions once again.

Leon
