Windows 10 administrator

Hi

I tried to save a file in a certain location in Win10 but it said
that the Adminstrator would not allow this.

How do I make myself the Adminstrator in my personal PC or at least
get around the above problem?

Incidentally, is there a good general guide to Win 10 on the net so
I don't have to keep asking such silly questions?

Cheers Peter

In Control Panel, go to User Accounts. To quickly get to Control Panel, click the start button and start typing 'cpanel'.

Select your user name, and there should be a link to the left of your user image that says Change Your Account Type. This is where you can change to Administrator.

BTW, your version of Win10, did you upgrade from Windows 7, by chance? There are documented issues with file ownership, coming from a Win7 environment.

Thanks Shane - did this and now it all works fine.
Yes, I did upgrade from Win7 to Win10, so no problem with this first action but I will keep your warning in mind if I strike further problems.
Cheers Peter
