Hi all, I have a FOSCAM camera in my obs to keep an eye on things but it just occurred to me that is uses IR lights to create an image in the dark. Is this IR light bouncing around the obs an issue for imaging?
Take an image with it on and off and see if you can notice the difference. CCD cams are sensitive to IR but use IR filters but I imagine none completely block IR.
I used to worry about Laptop monitors showing up in images but I can't say I have ever really noticed in images. Most scopes have a dew shield and it pretty much blocks out everything except the target object in the sky.
Of course if you are using a CDK and leave the shroud off it may be more susceptible to bouncing light off of a wall etc.
As Greg pointed out, comparing two images - with and without the IR camera on would be best way to go. Also, to my knowledge, IR penetrates plastics and fabrics, so a shroud would not be very effective in blocking IR, unless it has been designed for such purpose.
