New Digital Medium Format CCD cameras

Oh dear, the chips are getting larger for the community..
FLI has released a new series of CCD cameras, with sensors as large as 36x48mm at 40 Mpixels, using the KAF-39000 sensor.
Has 3 stage thermo cooling, plus a swag of drooly things too.
Very soon you wont need goto, as the whole sky will fit on 1 chip !.

The chip size is actually 50.7mm (H) x 39.0mm (V). Big chips are nice, but seriously, there are very few optical designs large enough to accommodate such a frame size. Sure you'd be able to couple it pretty much any commercial telescope such as SCT, Newt or RC, but field curvature is bound to be present. You would probably need to use 3" filters as the 50mm (2") would result in vignetting. Too many options to think about.
