Registax Saved Image Size

Hi all,

When I save the stacked image in Registax 6, the resulting file is very lo res. Does anyone know if there is a way to improve the quality? Currently when I save a BITMAP or a JPG it is about 70k and of course useless.

Isn't it dependent on the sensor size etc?
My DMK produces 680x480 size stacks but there is an option to "resize" in the same titled processing box.
Saving as TIFF or PNG allows for a larger file size too...

Hi Stu,
After stacking a gigabytes worth of frames and saving the processed image I am left with a 30 - 70 k image that can't be enlarged without enormous pixelation. Although the chip size is usually small, after stacking this becomes irrelevant. I can save the image as a TIFF of about 1 meg size but this is also a bit disappointing with regard to how much I can enlarge the picture. Surely there must be a way I can save a higher quality image that enlarges well like the processed image in Registax before I save it?

I'm not altogether "up" on Registax but I had a go on a Ha .avi of the Sun. I stacked 2000 or so frames and ended up with a 534k picture. However, I went to the Resize box and ramped up the size, with Lanczos filter applied.
This gave me a good 5mb .tiff image at the end.

Out of interest, have you tried AutoStakkert as an alternative to Registax? I generally do the align etc in that then save the file and use Registax for the wavelet treatment.

you can but not from the "final " screen you end up on. once stacked in registax but before the screen with the wavelets there is a save button where you can save high bitdepth (NOT resolution, stacking only gives you depth, not pixels) tif and fits i think and once you move to the screen with wavelets you cant go back i think.

Thanks, Stu, I have tried Autostakkert but I don't seem to be getting a better resolution. But I will try your suggestion with the Lanczos filter.
