Remote control and alignment

Dear members,

Is it possible to use the hand controller (celestron evolution) and sky safari at the same time?

My reason for doing this, in case there is a better way, is to dabble in some in home office EEA. I can connect and control my c925 evo wirelessly using sky safari 5 pro on my desktop (fixed) Mac, through my home network. But how do I align the scope. I tried both, it accepts the connections and says its aligned on the hand controller, but then goto behaves bizarrly. Ie points off in seemingly random directions.

Thanks in advance

If you don't use the wireless device, does the mount's goto work correctly?
If it goes crazy only when slewing via Sky safari, check the computer's clock date time, and ensure the sky safari Time line simulation is set to "Now"

Well i can say the Skywatcher Synscan controller can work with Sky Safari if you have a Nexus wifi module plugged into the controller port. Alignment is still via the controller but just do a single star align then align Sky Safari to that star and everything else works fine via tablet running Sky Safari.

On an adv GT mount i do alignment first on hand controller. Then can use skysafari (android via bluetooth) and hand controller at same time. Each knows where the other is. Except - hand controller doesn't know about align commands you do in skysafari.

I don't know about aligning remotely. You can with skyq and skyportal. There was some talk about it eventually working in skysafari ?

Thanks for the replies,
Each method works fine independently, just goes crazy when I try both together once aligned.

I'm glad you guys have got both to work together, so I will keep trying. Your setups are slightly different though (adv GT, blue tooth, and an add on wifi module).

I didn't realize that the evo mount can retain its alignment even after switching off, so I'll try that next if all else fails.

Cheers

Hey Glen.

I use this tech now with my eq5. Im currently doing a 3 star alignment with the syn scan then just tell skysafari to goto targets. Hows the accuracy of a single star alignment then a sky safari alignment?

Hmm, no joy yet again. If I align on the app (sky portal or safari on iPad), the hand controller wants to re align. If I align first on the hand controller then simply connect on sky safari the slew is way off in a puzzling direction!

Hibernation doesn't help my objective either...it seems the hibernation position is stored in software, or hand controller, not in mount. If you wake up on sky safari from a hand controller hibernated position, the scope thinks it's at the last place hibernated from safari!

Not sure how to solve this.

Need this Nexus wifi module to do this?

Trying to connect my skywatcher syncan to Sky Safari to control it the easiest.
Is this the easiest or any other way possible?
