Which eye do U observe with?

I observe with the left eye even though I am right handed. I am just wondering if people normally observe with the same eye as their hand preference and if I am perhaps being a little unusual (Again!)

I'm also right handed but observe with my left eye. I'm not sure why I started with that eye but it just feels natural. Trying to observe with my right eye now just feels uncomfortable and weird. I never actually checked to see which of my eyes provided the best views so I could be missing out.

I alternate. Depends on which one is less tired and doesn't have as many floaters, or other anomalies. Eyepiece position also factors in.

I am predominately right handed.

Either one. I am long sighted in my right eye, and short sighted in my left.

Right handed and goofy footed. I naturally use my right eye for most things even though I have better sight in my left eye.
It often catches me off guard when I remember to change over to the left eye. Even though my vision is good generally, the slight astigmatism in my right eye really stuffs up the finer details.

TBH, most of the time I just look at the image on my laptop/TV and let a camera do all the work.

Right handed and start out with left eye...I switch them during an evening of viewing but tend to use my left eye more.

It's a good idea to get comfortable with using both. By default I'd go for the right eye, but it's good to swap. Sometimes your eye gets tired. Also the brain responds subtly differently and most people over 40 (and many much younger than that) have different degrees and types of eyesight defects in their two eyes. My eyesight is pretty good for my age but my left eye is slightly better.

Also with a right-angle finder it's very handy to be able to quickly jump between finder with right eye to eyepiece with left eye. If you're into star-hopping with a Dob, I'd highly recommend it.

I'm a lefty and use my right eye.

Seems to be a pattern emerging here.

Right handed, right eye for viewing.

PS. On an unrelated note I sat in a lecture theatre last week with about 160 chairs. The chairs were the fold out desk type. I quickly realised that every single chair in the room was built for right handed people. Pretty poor planning I thought given that a left handed person would no doubt start to struggle after an hour or two (my sister's left handed).

Cheers
Evan

Right-handed, left eye here.

Has anybody previously reported this preference for using the opposite eye - it seems too significant to have not been noticed before.
