First Narrow Band and Mosaic

Hi all

Thought I'd share. This is my first nb. It's a bi colour, 3 panel mosaic.

Shot with a Skywatcher ED 80 and ST2000xm.
HA - 10 x 15min per tile
OIII - 10 x 15min per tile

Processed using PI and PS. Synthesised green (50:50 HA & OIII)

I thought my astrophotography days were over when a row of new super bright street lights were turned on behind my house. So finally made the jump to nb. Pleased with the result but probably a little over worked.

As always comments and criticisms are most welcome.

No I have recently purchased a Rigel auto focus. I'm very happy with the way it works. I have set to focus every hour

Very fine!

Good composition. Nice balance between showing faintest features, brightest features, and overall look. We like the colours too.

Thats a cracking start, pleasing colours and the detail in the Trifid is very clear.
The lagoon core though is uber bright so may benefit from being toned down a bit as there a lots of details & structures that are not yet showing up in this image.

I think You are right Andy. I might try to tone down lagoon and maybe try and bring in some rob stars

Wow George pretty amazing image for a first narrowband. I like it. Perhaps a tad oversharpened in places. I am not sure if you have selectively sharpened or globally sharpened. If selective and you are using a mask then its best to let the structured areas show through but block out the stars with a mask or simply paint them black in the mask (in Photoshop). Stars don't take sharpening well.

Really nice George! Very well represented, love the colour. Perhaps a bit over sharpened, I fall into the same trap myself Other than that, very nice image, even more so considering it is your first narrowband!!

I had a lot of issues with the stars. I ended up just de saturating them but I would really like to replace with RGB stars if I can ever figure it out. I will also try a more aggressive star mask.

Great first NB, George, and congrats on overcoming the street lights! The colours look a little washed out which is usually caused by a strong luminance overpowering the colour data. If you processed the Lum and colour separately and combined them with LRGBCombination then try a tweak of the Lightness and Saturation sliders (they are MTF functions so drag the Lightness to the right and the Saturation to the left a little.)

The bottom part of M8 is pretty badly effected however when I completely remove my lum it still has that milky wash over it. I noticed this popped up after DBE, I'm not sure how to use this tool properly when there is a lot of nebulocity in the frame.

I don't have any brilliant advice for DBE in fields full of nebulosity, George. Sometimes you can get away with just placing a few samples if there are some small areas of background.
