Petrol heads take note, it's no longer acceptable to aspire to ownership of a Hummer. What you really need is the Ford F650 Super pickup. I thought the person that emailed pics to me was just pulling my leg, but no, this latest US excess to beat all excesses is the real deal, reported to give 17MPG at 70MPH....

17 mpg is actually not that bad for such a monster. 14 litres / 100km.
OTOH, look at what else is coming out of the good ole US of A: http://www.teslamotors.com
The Tesla: an electric car with supercar performance, range of 400 km, effective fuel consumption under 1.8 litres / 100km (or so it is claimed).

Well I only spent 3 weeks in the US but I never saw many 'gas guzzlers' on the roads at all. Most of the cars were hatchbacks with 4 cylinders.

I agree with Steve 17MPG is creditable for such a monster considering you average Toyota Prada gets averages consumption around that figure.

I seen F100's, F150's and the F250's and they seem to grow proportionately in size as they step up in the models, if they have continued with that scale a F650 must be the size of a centurian tank.
Its consumption rate at 14 litres per 100 km at 110 kph sounds like it's highway results which is a bit steep.
But I love the flames, I should get some for my ute

Absolutely. Recently I lived in New York for two years and in Irvine, California for another two. I'd say that the Californians were more attuned to the smaller car in general, but overall the notion that all Americans drive big cars is an complete myth these days.
