Gunnedah Deep Field (Virgo Cluster)

Yes, OK - so it's only 53 million light years away, so not exactly Hubble Deep Field material.

I captured this back in February and initially posted on IIS. The recent rain prompted me to revisit my data though as I wasn't happy with the earlier outcome. I've included my initial process as a comparison.

I think this one has a better 3D effect now and the galaxy chain is much easier to see. From memory I was able to count 47 galaxies, some faint. One can only dream of flying through the cluster at high warp... the view would be incredible

Canon 600D (un-modified)
Canon 55-250mm kit lens (at 250mm F/5.6)
21 x 90sec (ISO 3200)
Piggy-back on LX200

Cheers, Evan

That's fantastic Evan, love what you've done with a stock Canon lens!

Thanks Colin , I was somewhat dubious at first but the lens seems pretty good.

Well framed Evan, a beautiful image, so glad you re-did it, chalk and cheese between the two.
