Tasco 4.5 Reflector Collectors Item

This is a truly beautiful old Tasco 4.5' Newt with Eq mount which is entirely made in Japan and has been in storage for many years.

It is in absolutely remarkable condition given that it is circa 1985 (estimate) and the workmanship of this telescope is amazing. It just oozes hand made quality which even extends to the fairly fancy box within which it is packaged

Virtually everything is made of metal or wood and makes you realise how much plastic junk there is now in modern astronomy equipment. Best of all the mirror is in wonderful condition too boot and the mount also comes with an electric motor! The tripod/mount is likewise in superb condition.

I would ideally like to see this go to some sort of collector who will appreciate old/classic telescopes and such workmanship.

I am happy to ship this telescope anywhere in Australia but it must be done at the buyers expense. Alternatively, pick-up from Sydney is also fine.

As I have no idea what this is all worth I am simply looking for offers and would like to stress that I am not expecting much so please don't be shy and send me any fair offer as to what you think this is worth to you and we can discuss things from there.

Astro Physics and Takahashi telescopes come and go but its genuinely rare to come across a Japanese made telescope that was painted Ferrari red at the factory

Thank you for reading this listing and please send PMs only

In response to two inquiries

1) When assembled its overall condition is pretty close to brand new akin to the picture of the assembled telescope on the front of the box

2) The focuser size is for the original .96mm eyepieces. However, I do have a .96 - 1.25 converter which I will also supply with the package so it can work with any modern 1.25 eyepiece as well

I am most dissappointed seeing this scope end up for sale on here. I gave this scope and a 10" Dob to a member here to help them out. I thought I was doing the right thing helping out a fellow astronomer get their own scope. The Seller is not the member i gave it to. I dont know how you ended up with it.

I know this is the scope I gave that member from the cable and plug on the motor drive.

I know giving stuff away from free means they can do what they like with it. But to me it's a moral issue. Give stuff away for free to help someone out then find it for sale on here.
