My Feeble Attempt at the Black Eyed Galaxy

Hi to all
I have set up my new gear in the Sky Shed Pod Observatory which I finally have all working .
this is my first image run with the new toys which are a G11 mount with Gemini 2 and new William Optics Mini Guider the imager is a Sbig STF8300C and a Sbig STI Guider threw a LX200R 10" OTA.
exposures are 20 x 300sec with only Darks subtracted I was pretty happy with the result but it could be better any suggestion would be greatly appreciated .
oh the capture software was Nebulosity 4 and the processing was done in the same program also using PHD2 for guiding on a Tough Book running windows 10 many thanks for looking

WOW ok are your talking about the dust bunny and satellite trail ?
if you are how the hell did you pick up on that satellite trail the dust bunny I can just see but I didn't even know the trail was there I might need to upgrade my glasses LOL

did you subtract flats? if not then that could really help

hi Aidan no I didn't unfortunately I am still stuck on producing good flats and I am working on it but with not much success at the moment but yes you are very correct it would fix a lot of my images

it is a good image, the lack of flats notwithstanding. i find flats to be the most important calibration images, it just means you can stretch the data a lot more without bringing up unwanted artefacts.

i have always liked this galaxy and would love to image it but it might be a little too low on the horizon for me

Aidan I am going to get into the flats serious this time I am going to order a light Box from Pete very soon and get the flat situation sorted you are here y correct about what you say as it is a very important Calibration step and I should be doing them to make the most of my images looking forward to it
