Jupiter and Ganymede 1 April 1300 UT

450/ 878 frames
f20
seeing 3/10
gain 50%
gamma 0
saturation 100%
brightness 50%
1/33
10fps

Seeing was pretty lousy last night when I captured this, still hand sorting last avi, on screen the image looked very good, but seeing killed the final image. Anyway this is the best GRS I have ever capture. Have started to do softer wavelet processing, think that this give a much better image, and I have noted that all the top planetary imagers do the same thing.

Anyway, looking forward to some cooler nights to image the Jovian king.

Nah this was imaged at 1030-1100 pm last night, I put the UT time for people who like it. Just wish I could get some clear weather with good seeing like I did two weeks ago before opposition is over. Opposition occurs 4 April and will last nearly a week then it will slowly get smaller. And; on top of that Jupiter will be behind my neighbours tree in a month.

Anyway thanks for the compliment. Might post a better image once I have finished with the processing.

Here's a better version with hand selected frames from about 20 minutes later. You can see some fine detail in the GRS. A swirling of the cloud formation. Better seeing would help.

Nice one Paul, the 2nd one is one of your best jupiters for sure! Nice and large too, so close to opposition.
