Iceman stop spamming his thread, I am sure that that lens will be donated to the most deserving, following a financial transaction

Last chance Hutech 5D
Hi all, sorry the 10-22mm has been sold, didn't fit on the 5D, so after the 350D took a swim the lens went.
I will include in the sale the 50mm f/1.4, the Lowpro Mini Trekker AW back pack and the tmount and 2" adapter from ScopStuff.
Total value around $6700 give or take a few pennies, all yours express delivered for $5000, what a bargain.
I will leave this on offer until Monday, if there are no takers i will have to buy some Hutech lens filters and keep it for general use.

Does't look like anyone is interested in this.
Maybe the price is too high
Will accept offers for the camera only, realistic offers that is

Trevor
No doubt it is a bargain, and one i'd love to snap up but like most other folk I just don't have a lazy 5K just sitting around ready to drop on a camera.
I guess the post is fairly recent. Leave it up there a while and maybe someone can raise the funds while you're waiting

O.K. i have had a pm with interest regarding the camera.
Obviously that person will have first preference for the sale if they want it.
The sale price is $4000, now that is a bargain if i ever listed one, camera body only price.
More than $1800 off original price, you won't get one cheaper.
Will throw in extras if it sells.

Can it be 'modded' back to a normal 5D? I can't seem to find anything on their website.

G'day Ben, you can purchase Hutech lens filters to use their modded cameras for normal daylight use.

Filters are at the bottom of the page.

Just my humble opinion. There will never be a better Canon camera for astrophotography. The 'new' Canon will be 22 mega pixels full frame. It won't be as good (signal to noise ratio) as the pixels are smaller. If you want to take terrestial pictures get the camera of your choice.
If you consider that a full frame cooled astro CCD (B&W) will cost in excess of 12K to 15K AUS, the Canon 5DH is a bargain. Let alone a good second hand one at a large discount!
By the way the Canon 5DH has about 50% quantum efficiency. If it was not for the Bayer filters on each pixel it would be about 70 to 80 %. The 'best' CCD's are the same. What is their quantum efficiency with a colour filter to take colour images, yes you guessed about 50% to 60%. Film has a quantum efficiency of about 2%!
Then there is the extreme cooling in the case of CCD's to lower the inherent noise. As you can see I am not a fan of CCD's ever since I realised that the only measure is signal to noise.
If my 5DH sensor had no filters and it was cooled to -40C it would make a CCD look sad. The A to D converter on the Canon is only 12 bits. So we may never know.
The CMOS sensors also don't suffer from 'blooming' unlike a CCD where charge 'leaks' into adjacent pixel and ruins a whole line!
Bert
