Aurora Borealis from Fairbanks, Alaska US

I returned from the States a few weeks ago to chase the northern lights (again!) for one last time before the season was over. I'm happy to report that we managed to get 3 good nights of viewing from Fairbanks, Alaska. Attached some photos and did a small timelapse which you can view here:

Hope you enjoy

Really like that video Mohammed. Maybe a silly question. Is that what it looks like to the naked eye or is the camera picking up more? Cheers, Richard.

Not a silly question at all. The camera does definitely enhance some of the colours, however you can clearly see greens, reds and purples quite vividly. There are a couple real time videos on youtube recorded using a sony a7s. It can move quite fast that even a shutter speed of half a second will blur the details!

That video is just simply wonderful. And to have headed north twice recently, I am so jealous.

Congratulations!

Mate, this is fantastic.. Must have been quite an adventure. I just love the timelapse. The timing is perfect. It really gives you the feel of being there, with the colour as a plus of course. Top notch. Memories for a lifetime. This is on my bucket list. Along with meeting santa in person and ask him for an EQ8.

Hi Graham,

Most of the shots were at iso3200 f1.4 24mm with a shutter of 1s (or less). Using my Canon 6D and Sigma 24mm f1.4 art lens.

Thank you
