Do not feed the seagulls ...

... they get aggressive

Here's my crack on this one for this year. Hopefully by next year I'll know enough to do a mosaic and fit it all in.

Taken with 69 minutes of 3 minute exposures in RGB and 120 minutes of 3 minute exposures in Hydrogen Alpha. Total : 3 hours & 9 minutes.

Using Celestron 9.25" Edge HD & Hyperstar lens, QHY12 (Colour) CCD and Baader Narrowband Filters & UHC Filter.

Lovely shot Dylan! I do see a dragon more so than a seagull, they get far more aggressive

Having never imaged the area myself I could be completely wrong but your stars look like they are lacking colour. It may just be an artefact of compression but all of the stars look virtually white.

Thanks! Yes, I see a Cockatoo

I struggle with star colour in all my shots.. I try not to push the nebula too hard but I do need to work on better saturation for the stars as a result. Not sure if the OSC CCD has anything to do with it, but it's more likely me!

Not bad for 3minute subs
I do like the more vibrant version.

I wonder if the stars are saturated? With the hyper star you are working very fast! If they are saturated, maybe 1min subs could improve that? Or maybe a good star mask so you can play with the saturation of the stars without effecting the nebula.

The stars look a bit hard to me, but overall it's quite a decent image. As Marc said, the FOV is nice and large.

Cheers,
Rick.

seagull

Hey Dylan, nice one!
I have tried this in the past but never really saw the resemblance to a bird till now. Maybe my FOV was too small. Good one!!
cheers
Graham
