Dobzilla!!!

Look what I've just posted up on the SDM website for Peter http://www.sdmtelescopes.com.au/SDM007.html

I think a certain Astroboy needs to file a VERY extensive report...

AJ, the page renders at 5x (my) screen width and the links, e.g.:
javascript:fp_ShowImg(document['fpphoto_7870'],'640','480','5441',30);
don't work.

While you are visiting the SDM website, have a look at Peter Read's own scope which has also been added to the Gallery (SDM #2), which just has to be seen to be believed.

In relation to Zane's new toy, how about we have an IIS gathering at the Magellan Observatory sometime soon around new moon?? Not an official starparty weekend, or anything, but just a fun informal observing night??

I have previously mentioned this to Zane, and he thought it was a good idea. We'd need to pay some sort of fee each, because it is his business. Some folk may wish to stay overnight, and book the sleeping quarters.

Who's up for it??

Jonathan, at this stage we are hoping for delivery around new moon in December. Not a bad Christmas present, all things considered....

Would be great to see you there!

Sounds like a good idea, Rod, but wouldn't be able to do it before Feb 2007.

Congratulations to Zane

Dang it.... I was about 20 minutes from Magellan Observatory yesterday on my way to and back from Canberra to pick up my 8" Newt from Matt. If I'd known I would have stopped in and crashed on his couch just to have a look through it over a celabratory red.

Its Big Its Sexy and its Here

Hi Folks
Thanks for the interest in the new scope hope to get a full report here soon but very impressed so far the scope looks and works great I went for just about every known option including:

Servocat goto and Argo Navis
Moonlite 2" filter slider
Moonlite 10-1 focuser
Kendrick heaters
Mirror temp / ambient tept thermometer
Baader Coma corrector
Paracorr Corrector ( be good to see which works best )
Bottle of champagne

After I try the TV Binovue I may buy the Denkamire Bino to keep the magnification down ( 2X vs 1.3X ) but I'll wait and see , Ive run out of kidneys to sell to fund this thing .

Thanks
Zane
