The satellites say that it is a bit warmer than it used to be

and the BOM is forecasting 35C+ temperatures for Adelaide for the foreseeable future.


I am waiting for a cool day to do some rendering - June maybe...

Same thing up here in SE Qld Ray, I don't think the temp gauge in my lounge room has moved below 30 degrees for the last 3 weeks. Even at Midnight it is still 30° in the lounge room, just as well we have aircon in the bedroom, or else I'd never get any sleep.

hi Mike. the UAH guys seem to be reliable now that they have their analysis routines sorted out. Their main advantage is that their data is timely and almost universally accepted. So far as I can tell, they haven't let their views stand in the way of the data.

I hope that the thread doesn't descend into the pit, but this el Nino is a huge event and must be worth more airtime than the popular media is currently giving it. Maybe we could also throw in the latest NSIDC report "Arctic sea ice was at a satellite-record low for the second month in a row"..

yes it has been a saga starting with the early mistakes on the satellite data analysis, through the era of " it must be....... (fill in this week's alternative theory)" and ending up with the current silence (the books are still for sale though).

However, I think that UAH is a good reference in this sort of discussion, because all of the red herring arguments such as "the thermometer sites are in the wrong place", "the data has been manipulated to hide the truth" etc. etc. etc. have the wind taken out of them. If the Christy and Spencer satellite data show such a monstrous effect, it has to be accepted as real in other databases as well.
