Australia Post are at it again .........rant ....

Sorry to bring up this subject (I made clear in the title that it was going to be a rant)

Apparently Australia Post is now playing PingPong......

Parcel tracking shows my item bouncing back and forth between their NSW and QLD sorting facilities.....

Dear Aust Post, please just look at the address, it's right there on the package and it is in the ACT.........

And for this privilege we are hit with an increase of between 35 and 50% for 2016.
A monkey would do a better job as CEO of Aust Post......

Well the more they charge the less it will be used - you can't use a law of diminishing returns to increase profit if the service is not first class,,,,,, and it ain't

An old lady sent a letter to Santa asking for some money to help her pay her electricity bill. "Dear Santa. Times are tough this year. My husband recently passed away and I had to cover the costs of his funeral. The dog is sick and I don't have enough money to pay the electricity bill. The grand children also need Christmas presents. Can you please help? I need $490".

The staff at the Australia Post mail centre received the letter and felt sorry for the lady. They did a quick whip around the building and managed to raise $420.

They addressed a letter back to the lady and put the money in an envelope and sent it to her from Santa.

A week or so after Christmas, the lady sent Santa another letter. "Dear Santa. Thank you very much for taking the time to write back to me. The dog is a lot better and your money certainly helped me no end. The electricity remains on and I could afford to buy the grandkids some gifts. I did however notice that there was only $420. I reckon it must have been those thieving b......rds at Australia Post who took the rest".

I am having the same issue with an item that was supposedly sent to me Monday, it is showing in the Chullora facility in NSW, rang AP today after 65mins wait on the phone advised that they are having similar issues in most places. Seems their CEO is not getting paid enough I reckon...

So far my parcel has travelled over 3000 kms from Sunshine Coast and is still nowhere near Canberra. Just waiting to see if it goes back to Queensland for the third time.......

Oh boy...

Thankfully, all my items from Claude and elsewhere arrived here safely and within 4 days. Better than usual!

BUT, an EMS item I had purchased in the USA took 5 days to get from New Jersey to La Guardia Airport... it could have been bicycled there and arrived quicker! (it bounced from post office to post office to hub to airport...) Thankfully it departed the USA yesterday - now lets wait to see how hurriedly Aus Post gets this EMS item to me.

Norway Post has been...well...slow. I think my mate sent the item on an elk sled to Oslo, and then they put it on a fishing boat...

...My HAL-130 Tripod turned up today .... after a ' spin ' across the Brisbane River.

It left Hervey Bay ( My Astroshop ) .... went down the coast .... past Deception Bay and over the Brisbane River to the Underwood Mail Sorting Depot.

Loaded back onto a Mail Truck... and sent back across the Brisbane River, towards Deception Bay.

Was off-loaded at the Narangba Mail Centre.

Re-loaded on a AP Courier Van ... and then driven back to Deception Bay .... and was ' signed ' for by me.

... no wonder ' stuff ' gets lost or missed placed....

Too much ' handling ' by too many people.

Col....

Sold 2 items and bought one all from this site in the last 3 weeks, all got there and/or arrived within a few days.

Had the exact same issue with an item I was keeping an eye on that I sold on here. It kept bouncing back between locations in NSW.

No idea what is going on.

I am quite happy with my treatment by Australia Post.
All the stuff I have bought in the last year has arrived ok and on time.
I live out in the country, and have to travel a fair distance to pick up parcel that are too large to fit in my mail box,so be it.
I have a grumpy mail delivery man but otherwise I am happy with the
service.
On the other hand I am not happy with the cost of the service,
Way too expensive for parcels,a parcel containing Astronomy 2016 and a very small package inside $12:50 to Archerfield from the Sunshine coast.
Apparently if over half a kilogram, the price sky rockets.
Bloody disgrace.
If you want a a parcel/letter delivered in under three days,no matter where it comes from*could be just across town* you have to pay 50¢ extra.
I find it amazing that Australia Post's idea to reduce the service and up the price is the way to go to increase patronage as skewed and in my opinion the way to go too driving it into the hands of the privatization pushers.
Cheers

Update .....

Talk about having inefficient work practices.... my parcel was only 20 odd minutes away from me yesterday and on this ( my ) side of the Brisbane River.... Aust'Post sends it back over to the South Side of Brisbane to another Mail Sorting Facility ( now it's a good hour or more from my place ) ......they put it in a mail truck and send it back to the North Side of the River, to another delivery center at Narangba.

It is then unloaded , put on a Aust' Post Courier Van and according to their Website is being delivered today sometime.

Too much handling by so many people....definitely not a ' streamlined ' company, very inefficient indeed.

This was an Express O/N Parcel ....it was posted to me originally Wednesday .... 2 days later and waiting...

Col....

EDIT ....Received my Item at 11am today.

The bouncing back and forth is due to faulty sorting machines.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-2...g-mail/6417106

A real shame they are not even trying to fix the problem. They haven't done absolutely anything during the past year to fix the problem.

Meanwhile my package arrived today, in a timely manner and in good condition. It is easy to underestimate the complexity in delivering the quantity of mail that AP does. Sure it could be better and there are the occasional issue, but the fact that it is even possible to have a package delivered in 24 hours from a couple of thousand ks away is pretty impressive. Just a thought

WOW ........ 1/2 a Billion $ spent on new Sorting Machine that won't work properly ... I'll bet the increase in Postage recently is an attempt to ' claw back ' some of this money spent.

I think the only way for the sorting machines to approach 100% accuracy is uniform packaging. Many of the parcels I receive have been "custom" packaged. It's a miracle they are as accurate as they are.

Frankly, we either have to accept some parcels being mis-sorted, or we wait several weeks while each parcel is manually sorted.

Maybe "some", but not at the numbers being mentioned, and especially not at the main sorting facility itself..

If you ever get to see the doco on the UPS "worldport" sorting facility in the US, you would see that much high accuracy is possible.

Andrew

Maybe if Mr Fahour and all the Pollies got sent their pay by cheque "in the mail", it would get fixed overnight :-)
