Strike while the Iron is HOT! or you miss out

Yesterday afternoon a bargain was pointed out to me by Terry (Spudrick) because he knew I was after a good mount.

I knew it was financially out of reach for me even though it was a bargain. I tried to think of every possible way to buy this item, but came up blank. By about 11:30pm last night I decided to offer to pay it off. I umm'ed and ahhh'ed about ringing him coz it was late. Today I still umm'ed and ahhh'ed not sure whether to ring him with the 'Lay-By' idea. I waited until lunchtime then decided to try.

On ringing him he told me that he placed his ad back on the 5th of this month and today is the first calls he has had! Me and a bloke who rang only half an hour before me!!!!!

He said if the other guy doesn't buy it I could pay him off.

He rang me this afternoon to inform me that the other guy bought it

So you understand why I say it was a bargain, here is the wording from the ad:

SAXON TELESCOPE 6INCH
refractor, F1200x150, German HEQ5 equatorial mount, built in dual axis motor drives with hand controller and tracking, battery case, 2inch plus 1.25 eyepiece holder, all accessories, ECond, $750, Geelong

STATE: VIC FIRST PUBLISHED: 5 Oct 2006

If you see a 'true' Bargain, do yourself a favour and jump on it quick.

Sorry to hear of your missed opportunity Ken, but I'm sure there will be another around the corner, just waiting for you.

Cheers

$750 bucks! Ken, how could you procrastinate on that one??? Hesitation Blues...

Well, try to console yourself with the thought of all the things that could have been wrong with it. (Would have to have been a mighty lot wrong, though.)

Or else, have a beer.

Better luck next time.

Cheers,

Brian.

wow looks like a good deal - where was that posted?

If it was in good condition, definitely a bargain!

There was a similar deal on ebay not long ago, also a Victorian. HEQ5, dual motors 10", polar scope, 10" Saxon Newt, $999 starting bid. Got zero bids.

Ah but that's a 6" refractor you got there Ken. Wow that does sound very good! almost too good...

It was a good deal Mike, that's why I am kicking myself for hesitating. The ad was in the 'Trading Post online'.
