Hazy Crux and Musca - astro-trac

I had my first night under a dark sky with my new-to-me Astro-trac. Unfortunately there was some high, thin cloud or haze that turned all the bright stars into large fuzzies. At least it looks atmospheric.

Canon 6D
70-200 f/2.8L lens at 100mm f/4
25 120sec subs processed in Lightroom, CCDStack and Photoshop.
Larger version here.

And here is a single sub which amusingly has satellite trails making a cross across the cross.

Both are great Graeme - I particularly like the Cross across the Cross! What a great capture.

Cheers

nice work indeed, the satellite one is pretty cool too!
some people actively try to artificially get that brighter star effect (eg fogging the lens at the end of the sub).

Cheers

I am really liking the look of the bloated stars, gives them a nice soft appearance

I like this image. Luckily we got a good night in on Tuesday, still recovering today. Though I still like this effect as I said to you Graeme. Despite the high cloud I am glad you went home with something worth working on. I am keen to see Tuesday nights results.
