Hogmanay Horsie

Happy New Year IISers!
The Hogmanay Horsie came out to play for New Year at our friends Norm and Lauren's place in Nerriga, NSW. While we all relaxed and played games in the run up to midnight, the scope was working away on this image, snapping through the odd thin high cloud. The cloud spilling from the remains of the tropical disturbance over NT threatened to spoil the party, but just about stayed away, though I lost about 50% of the frames.

One of the first full images from my new scope, a 200mm f/5 Newtonian from Bintel, and I'm pretty happy so far. The picture's a wee bit noisy as once again I'm limited to a little over an hour of light, but I'm pretty happy to have got a good amount of the various bits of dust, and hopefully can add to it if I get some more dark sky time.

15 x 5 minutes, 200mm f/5 Newtonian, EOS 60D, ISO800, other usual kit.

A larger view is here.

Nice. One of my fave targets. Managed to image it myself for the first time this summer.

Back when I had a 9.25" and an EOS 20DA, I'd have been thrilled to have bagged that in just one hour. So well done!

I am floored by the quality of your field. What coma corrector are you using? Truly remarkable shot.

Thanks Mark, it's a Baader MPCC (Mk II I think, though it doesn't say so so is it Mk I? - it's identical to this image), bought from Erik on the forum here, in great condition!
You'd not be surprised to hear I'm pretty happy with it, this shot is the full uncropped frame

Yeah, that's not a bad effort at all while playing games on New Years Eve Andy All the basic elements are there for a really great HH, just need some more time on it...should be a good'un

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! Was hoping to add to it this weekend, but that may be a tad optimistic with current Sydney weather...
