ngc-253 with LX200/10" at F-10

Hi All,
Had a nice clear night (dont get many) so tried to improve on earlier Pix. of ngc253, herewith the results, ive tried this object a few times now in this configuration and it looks like this is about as good as I can do, F-10 is very fast and results in low contrast on the Canon sensor, I might give ISO-1600 a try (if the noise dosent beat me) see what that does to improve detal.
The colour seems good, something I could never get right using the MX7C camera which always gave me a red hue.
The actual picture is some 12 Mb. in size and of course much more detail than the Jpg. posted here, still it gives an idea.
6 x 6 Min. Exp. at ISO800- LX200/10" at F-10, guided with an ED80 + MX7C

cheers........Jim

Wow! That image scale is quite impressive. Although it's caused a little pixelation around the stars. Is that due to resampling or bumping up the size, or is it jpeg compression?

The dark lanes are very clear and overall exposure is nicely done.

Good stuff Jim

ngc253 at 1600 ISO

Hi All,
Thanks for all the comments, and yes Scott ngc253 just about fills the frame using the LX200-10" at F10, ngc-253 is 25 x 7.5 arcmin. so I can get about 1/2 Deg full frame-thats all, and guiding is difficult if there is any wind, still good fun, attaching last nights effort taken at ISO-1600 to see if I could get any more detail, dident, but the noise wasent too bad after DF removal, dont think theres much to pick between ISO-800 and this one at ISO-1600.

6 x 5 Min. Exp.- DF (taken at the same time-3 off combined) removed, LX200/10" at F-10, guided w/ED80 + MX7C + Astroart, processed w/IP

cheers....................Jim

Nice image Jim,

I know how hard imaging at 2500mm F10 is....well done.

Only remark would be it lacks a bit of color but everything else looks great.

ngc253 at 1600 ISO

Hi Tony,
Re the colour, this is about what the AAO picture looks like colour wise, also a few Astronomy books with pictures of ngc253 show this colour scheme, when I used the MX7C Camera I always ended up with Reds and Greens in the nebulosity, frustrating, usually ended up doing a B/W picture which was great for detail and considering that the MX7C only has a 1/2 Mp image chip, Ill dig out a Pix from the MX7C and post it.

Pix. 8"SCT+ MX7C Camera 1 Exp.-5 Min. DF removed- self guided
cheers....Jim
