vixen sxd query

There is a vixen SXD eq mount for sale in classifieds - I wondered whether this would fit un modded onto my existing old pier, that used to have a CGEM on it and before that an EQ 6. It has a Dans pier plate on for CGEMS.
Thanks for advice
Graham

Graham, the SXD has a 45mm diameter locating spigot in its base (if my memory serves me.. ) which is about 20-25mm deep so probably not a direct fit into the CGEM/EQ6 adapter plate.

Nope, it won't fit.

The SX-series used even a different arrangement to the ubiquitous GP series (the GP series will fit an HEQ5 tripod head, since Skywatcher copied Vixen).

You'd have to have an adapter made or your existing one modified. The SXD is WORTH it though - superb tracking, and robust. The Starbook USED to be the Achilles heel, but that is now fixed (I flashed that Starbook with the April 2015 firmware/software before I sold it to John).
