Aurora from Clayton Bay

Saturday night a few guys came down to the obs for some dark sky time but unfortunately we did get clouded out. However, just before sunset we took off around the corner to the point and watched and photographed the aurora which was visible to the naked eye. It was not overly bright quite dim by some the other ones I have seen but it was nice to witness another aurora and to capture an image or two. Click on the links below for the larger image.

Nice one. I am yet to see a real aurora. It must be fun.

Greg.

Thanks guys.

Greg, earlier in the year Steve and I saw a quite bright aurora which had quite a few bursts over the course of a few hours. It was good fun.

Beautiful shots, Paul. Wish I was there. I've also never seen an aurora in the flesh.

Those exams Gaeme on the weekend prevented your chance this time. That time a couple of years back when we saw a brightening the sky that was a faint aurora but a bright one is certainly much more interesting.
