Found this website guys with free internet TV from around the world which includes NASA TV (no: 11) . Heaps of other channels too they are talking about supernova's now lol.

Is this for real?

We are paying over $70. per month for satellite TV and getting about 20 channels. These are offering 2000 channels for a once only fee of $49.00 US .

If this is for real then Satellite TV will become obsolete.

Pay-TV is overpriced for what you get, IMO.

It seriously needs to life its game if it's to survive the ever-increasing popularity of the www, live-streaming etc

Don't get too excited, decent quality TV images require huge bandwidth, it's unlikely to happen (at least with any sort of quality) with the meagre broadband internet we have in Oz at the moment.

And that's if you can get broadband! we cant even get mobile coverage
here and I live nearish a main highway in a fairly densely populated North
Coast... So We all waiting out here to see how o'l Sol from Teltra is going
to give us broadband.

I even had to have our line from the exchange boosted just to get dialup
56k would be really nice, it was certainly a downer going from Cable in
Sydney back 28000 on dialup.

When I was in Canada a few years back, my friend in Quebec went into
Radio Shack brought a dish for $49.00 unmodified and could pickup a
whole bunch of channels (illegally) for free.

I think you will find the US is prolly like Canada there is no free to air TV
it's all cable or satelite. It's been around over there so long with so many
competing providers, it becomes cheap. Telephone is pretty cheap there
too, $20 per month tops, no per call charge, and if you pay an extra $20
you can ring all north America (at no extra per call charge)... including the US,
Alaska and Canada. And we get told from time to time we have the cheapest
phone service in the world. Mobile on the other hand is more expensive.
You pay for out going as well as in coming. They figure if you want mobility
then why make the caller pay for your mobility, which seems reasonable to
me but not the mobile user.
