Pythagoras, Anaximander and Philolaus mosaic

Hello,

Here is a 3 panel mosaic covering Pythagoras, Anaximander and Philolaus. The capture was under difficult conditions, so not many frames were used from each avi to stack each image. Unfortunately, this has contributed to some noise and processing artefacts. Maybe its time to ditch the ToUcam and upgrade?

Warning: 1500 pixels wide.

Celestron C9.25, TeleVue x2.5 Powermate, Philips ToUcam 840K. Oct 5th.

I've yet to capture an image like this where it looks like it's been captured by someone actually flying over the moon.

That's a fantastic panoramic image Dennis.
I spent several miniutes moving from left to right and back again imagining that it must be similar to a view of orbiting the moon in an orbiter.

How many frames are you selecting for each image, and are you hand selecting them or only selecting the front few from Registax?

Thanks for your nice comments; I spent a lot of time on this mosaic due to the variable seeing conditions. It started to look a bit crummy as I began to see too many of the faults and lost sight of the big picture.

Paul – the # of frames varied from around 40 to 75 and I had to run 3 to 4 Alignment Points manually for each of the 3 panes, before stitching together in Corel Photopaint, then trying to reduce the noise and hide the seams.

I love that peak emerging into the light in the upper left crater in the image.

On my screen its looks like one of those old-style tap fawcets

Yes - that's why I was drawn to this crater on that evening, the lighting was very dramatic. It is the central peak of Pythagoras, and was one of the alignment points I used.
