Clouds: not always awful!

Sometimes they make it to APOD:

Ah mammatus, if I saw that particular formation, I would looking for the nearest place under cover, usually they hang off the bottom of Cumulonimbus. Nice photo that is for sure.

If I saw thaat Mammatus while flying I sure would not be admiring it's titacular beauty!

I actually imaged some mammatus from the SEQ storms the other day - I was fairly distant, so the phone cam is zoomed which means they'll be crappy, but I will upload them. Only ever seem mammatus 3 or 4 times. I think I have seen lenticular more often.

Sailing home at days end and the Sun lit them up.
Looked like golden drops about to fall.
So wonderful.
We anchored and gazed until dark and went home under nav lights.

Like I thought, not the clearest - I was driving and trying to zoom ($300 fine right there!).

You can see one mammary lobe fairly well. visually, it was quite nice, and really quite beautiful.
