Picked an 8mm Baader Hyperion yesterday....... only to find out I have a trade for a 7mm Pentax XW for my meade 14mm UWA, which now makes the 8mm Baader hyperion redundant. I called my shop where I got the 8mm Hyperion and asked if i could send the 8mm back for a 13mm Hyperion and he said "yes!!!"......here is the 8mm Hyperion just for you to see.
I can't wait to get a hold of the 7mm Pentax XW...I had one before and know what it will deliver: top-knotch images!!!
I haven't used the Baader Hyperion but I have used the very similar Orion Stratus and for a medium priced eyepiece, I am very impressed with the performance of these eyepieces. They are based on the Vixen LVW, so they should be good.
Looks nice, 666. I have the 8, 13, and 21. Early days yet, but I am sure you will be very happy. I actually have 2 of the 13mm, so one will go.

I have the 21mm and there is a very noticeable, strong yellow colour band around the peripheral field of view whenever I use it. Whether in my C9.25, Vixen ED102 or WO 80mm. I would be interested to hear of your experience with the 21mm.

I thought I had jaundice or something when I looked through my 21mm Hyperion which was only purchased recently. I used it on my 10" LX200 initially to look at the moon late one afternoon and the strong yellow fringing was quite noticeable around the peripheral field as well. My daughter in law said the yellow edge looked really good! The effect was still noticeable on quarter moon in the evening. I also tried it out on my SW ED80 Pro the next day and it was the same. The other Hyperions don't appear to suffer from this problem. It is annoying, however it seems to be only present when viewing in daylight or looking at the moon. The eyepiece performed very well when viewing star fields showing quite clear pinpoints near to the edge of the field and know yellow reflection was evident.
When I bought the set of six Hyperions, I ended up with two 13mm EP's. One of the 13mm EP's was put into the 8mm box, very annoying as as I had to send it back by post and now have to wait who knows how long to get the right one. What's even more annoying is that a lot of dealers don't care that you have to pay for postage and rarely do they offer a refund when it is usually their fault.
Good report Steve. Also, thanks for clarifying that the yellow fringing is seen on the Moon and in bright daylight. As you correctly state, star fields appear not to be affected by this.
Crikey, better crank it up then. I used it, and the others last night, didn't notice anything. Mind you I am as blind as a bat.
I use the 10" newt/dob, while the "other" scope is imaging. I'll pay more attention now. Back soon.
Nope, just tried it, but really only on the stars.
In daylight yes a slight yellow rim was visible, IF you had the eye in a slightly too close position.
On the sky, looking for stars etc (moon is well up and bright) I didn't notice anything.
Didn't try the moon, as it would have burnt my eye, the scope was the 10".
I have seen it reported that the 21mm has a smaller 60 degree FOV, unlike the rest at 67-68 degrees. Is there any truth to this? Seems to be becoming the popular belief on CN. But maybe just many people repeating the same misinformation originating from the one source.
I had the 21mm Stratus and did not notice a smaller FOV. In fact comparing with the 19mm Pano it seemed about right.
Got the 13mm Hyperion now, sent back the 8mm and traded it, because I now have a 7mm XW.
So, I now have a 30mm Ultima, 13mm Baader Hyperion and 7mm Pentax XW.
The great thing about these three is that they are ALL parfocal !!!!
