Ngc 346

Here's another object in the SMC that should probably get more attention than it usually does. NGC 346 is the brightest star formation region in the SMC and, as such, is equivalent to the Tarantula nebula in the LMC although it looks quite different. I had to use some data from an older image to fill this one in. Perhaps I'll get some more data when the moon goes away.

Cheers

Steve

Nicely done Steve. Crisp detail and nice subtle colours. As Mike said, it's in another galaxy, so I can only imagine how spectacular it would be if we could bring it into the Milky Way

Thanks Geoff. I think it would crowd out just about everything else in the milky way

Thanks guys. I'll probably revisit this as just a HaOIIIOIII when I get the data.

Very nice indeed - reminds me of the images that truly inspired my love with astronomy (like the postcards from Hong Kong's Planetarium as a kid)

Sure makes a refreshing change to the NGC 253's.... thank goodness!

Thanks guys. I probably haven't finished with this one. I was going to get some more Ha and OIII data to see what that does.
